Dim sum is yummy

Posted on Monday 18 August 2008

Whoa a blog post about my life, wtf?!? ;) Yeah on Saturday Maggie and I went for dim sum and man I just love it. Wanted to share some pictures because well I always take pics when I eat dim sum mainly to make my sister Estelle jealous. :D

On another note this is something I’ve wanted to blog about for a few days but just have been too busy. Is sanity starting to prevail in the US?

Rejecting claims of religious discrimination and stifling of free expression, U.S. District Judge James Otero of Los Angeles said UC’s review committees cited legitimate reasons for rejecting the texts - not because they contained religious viewpoints, but because they omitted important topics in science and history and failed to teach critical thinking.

Sorry but if your school taught you that the answer to scientific questions is that “god did it”, that’s not real science and good for U.S. District Judge James Otero for recognizing it. Yeah I hate organized religion (not just christianity, all the other junk too) and am always happy to see it fail in the face of reason.

This is why Chrysler (and the big 3) is hopeless

Posted on Wednesday 13 August 2008

Saw this in Reuters today and I just had to post. While everyone else in the industry is focusing on smaller more fuel efficient cars the buzz from Chrysler is its new car based SUV. Granted there’s not much info in the article but man it really shows that this company does not get it. I guess it could be worse they could be releasing a new truck based SUV, after all Americans love them right…

No comments for now please

Posted on Wednesday 6 August 2008

Ugh looks like spammers really turned it up a notch and have taken my comment system down completely. I guess ~5000 comments will do it, anyway till I figure out how to clear the junk comments out, the feature will be disabled.

Nice long weekend and happy bday mom!

Posted on Monday 4 August 2008

Well I certainly had a good long weekend, I hope you did too. On Saturday Maggie and I went to Buffalo with our friends Jessie and Jason, Alan and Sharon for a bit of shopping and it was fun. Picked up a new Bissell vacuum and man it cleans so much better than our old canister vacuum.

A bit later in the day we passed by the Walden Galleria and I was shocked to see that the mall does not support recycling! There were only garbage cans which were filled with recycleable papers, plastics, bottles and cans. :( In this day and age, with what we know about our environmental impact on the planet you’d figure people would at least want the illusion of being green.

Today it was my mom’s birthday and as a family we went out for dim sum. I haven’t had dim sum in ages and was great to see everyone all together. Generally even for family events there’s usually one or two people missing. Megan returned my old P&S camera and as expected she broke it on her trip. The thing still works but it’s a pain in the ass to get pictures off it now but I guess at least she returned it.

Anyway I’m off to bed, the nice thing about a long weekend is that the next weekend comes one day faster. :D

Weird failure

Posted on Thursday 24 July 2008

Yesterday I noticed that my CA M4A1 would fire in full auto even when set to semi which was rather odd. I haven’t opened up the mechbox for months so it’s not like a spring would have popped out or something, anyway after taking it apart I found that the trigger contact rail broke.

Luckily for me I had an extra (pictured above and to the right), after installing it into my gun the rifle fires in semi again woo!

Beautiful!

Posted on Saturday 19 July 2008

This certainly puts the petty problems we have on this planet in perspective huh? ;) The Earth is so beautiful when seen from space, make sure you check out the videos (1 and 2)!

“Making a video of Earth from so far away helps the search for other life-bearing planets in the Universe by giving insights into how a distant, Earth-like alien world would appear to us,” said University of Maryland astronomer Michael A’Hearn, principal investigator for the Deep Impact extended mission, called EPOXI.

Arnold speaks the truth!

Posted on Monday 14 July 2008

Man the Govenator is awesome too bad Arnold can’t run for President. In the world of American politics some people have to be careful with what they say but he speaks his mind and hey, it’s the truth too!

“If they would have done something this year, I would have thought it was bogus anyway,” he said. “You don’t really have an effect by doing something six months before you leave office … it doesn’t sound to me believable at all. The sincerity is not there.”

He’s probably the Republican I would vote for (if I were an American that is) Can someone remind me why Mr. Schwarzenegger is a Republican in the first place? Many of his views are pretty liberal.

Woo for Haboob!

Posted on Sunday 13 July 2008

Over the weekend the team and I went to Operation Haboob in Rawdon Quebec and I have to say it certainly was pretty damn good. Man I wish we had fields like that in Southern Ontario, anyway I’m going to skip the usual write up about the game and such because my brain is still pretty much mush right now. I didn’t take many pictures because I was too busy playing but here’s a group picture including Marci of Wolfpack. She was an honourary GHOSTS on Saturday. :)

Note to self drink more water before and during the game next year, mild heatstroke and a hangover style headache is not fun!

Hey there sorry for the lack of updates but I’ve just been… well lazy. I’ll try to be good and post something interesting soon, I just don’t have much motivation these days.
